To study the impact of nutrition education, the subjects were imparted nutrition education for a period of three months at weekly intervals. The mean daily intake of cereals, pulses, GLV and other vegetables was inadequate before nutrition education and increased significantly after nutrition education except GLV which decreased due to seasonal variations. The mean daily intake of energy, protein, riboflavin, niacin and iron also increased significantly after nutrition education. No significant improvement was found in anthropometric measurements except in the 13+ years’ age group where a significant improvement was found in MUAC and TSF. Hb, PCV and MCHC increased significantly after nutrition education whereas there was no change in the other blood parameters. The nutrition knowledge score also increased from 9.41 to 22.96 and quantum of improvement was 2.40 times after nutrition education.
