The present investigation was carried out on 6-year-old guava trees of cv. Sardar planted 6 m apart at the New Orchard, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana during 1997–98, using three chemicals, viz., urea, Kl and (NH4)2SO4, each with three levels, to induce a better winter season crop by deblossoming the rainy season crop. The fruits with the maximum length and breadth were harvested from the trees sprayed with (NH4)2SO4 (20%) while the (NH4)2SO4 (10%) treated trees produced fruits with the minimum length and breadth. However, the heaviest fruits were harvested from the trees treated with urea (10%), followed by urea (15%), while the lighest fruits were harvested from the control trees. The highest TSS, vitamin C and acidity values were obtained from the urea 10 per cent treated trees. The fruit yield was found to be significantly higher, to the tune of 65.65 kg/tree on the trees sprayed with urea 10 per cent over all the other treatments.
