Abstract

The spray distribution pattern of different nozzles namely; hollow cone, solid cone, adjustable and fan type mainly used for agricultural purpose was studied at three pressures (0.75, 3.0 and 6.0 kg/cm2) and three angular settings of the nozzles. Spray pattern of nozzles at a particular pressure and angular setting was overlapped to find the nozzle spacing for a uniform spray. The angular setting of the nozzle affected the uniformity of spray pattern as well as working width of the nozzle. With increase in pressure, swath width, working width and discharge rate increased for all the nozzles. The discharge rate of adjustable and fan type nozzle was higher to hollow cone and solid cone. For uniform spray at 3.0 kg/cm2, the nozzle spacing of hollow cone (S1), solid cone (S2), adjustable (S2) and fan type (S3) was found to be 48, 42, 42 and 30 cm, respectively.
