Knowledge Level of Extension Personnel on Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

Information and Communication Technology (ICT)-based agro-advisory services are generating possibilities to solve problems of poverty, inequality and giving an opportunity to bridge the gap between information rich and information poor and support sustainable development in agricultural communities. ICT-based agro-advisory services also improve socio-economic status of farming community. Knowledge is one of the crucial components of education which facilitate the behavioural changes. Knowledge can be overwhelmed with more research, experience and training. Hence, an attempt has been made to assess the knowledge level of the extension personnel regarding ICT tools. The study was conducted in Cuddalore district with the sample size 120 extension personnel. A pretested questionnaire was used to collect data from the respondents. The study revealed that majority of the extension personnel had medium level of knowledge on ICT tools. Further, the result showed that the extension personnel had more knowledge on social networks, Internet/web services, digital camera and Farm Crop Management System.
