Abstract

Women play a vital role in dairy farming and contribute significantly to livestock management and household livelihoods in rural India. The study aimed to assess the extent of participation and activity performance of dairy farm women in dairy-related activities and examine the relationship between selected socio-economic characteristics and their performance in dairy activities in the Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh. A survey of 150 dairy farm women was conducted using a pre-tested interview schedule. Women's participation was assessed across breeding, feeding and watering, health care, management, processing, and marketing activities. Correlation analysis was used to study the association between socio-economic variables and dairy activity performance. None of the correlations were statistically significant (p > 0.05). The findings highlighted the substantial role of women in routine dairy management and household-level dairy operations. The study emphasizes targeted training, extension support and access to scientific dairy management information which further enhance women's productivity and empowerment.
