The study aimed to identify the challenges in rapeseed-mustard production and marketing in Punjab's Mansa district and propose solutions to address them. Data was gathered from farmers across five blocks using a random sampling method and personal interviews. The Garrett ranking method analysis revealed that the primary production constraint was the unavailability of high-yielding variety seeds, followed by a lack of quality inputs and access to modern production technologies. Other significant production barriers, based on average ranking scores, included delayed adoption of plant protection measures, poor-quality irrigation water, limited use of recommended practices, and restricted access to credit. Less than half of the farmers identified adverse weather, low-quality land, and pollination issues as notable production constraints. On the marketing side, the Garrett ranking scores highlighted small marketable surplus, price volatility, and insufficient government support as the main challenges. Additionally, the lack of skilled labor and scientific storage or processing facilities further impeded the marketing of rapeseed-mustard in the district. In conclusion, the study outlines the key production and marketing obstacles faced by rapeseed-mustard farmers in Mansa district.
