A study was conducted to evaluate variations in by-products yield of males, females and pooled sex groups in Vanraja, Aseel, Kadaknath and Cobb-400. The values were analyzed, both live as well as carcass weight basis for various by-products, namely blood, head, feet, skin and feathers, spleen, intestine, trimmings, giblets and total by-products. In male chickens, live weight basis blood, feet, skin, feathers, giblets did not differ significantly among indigenous breeds while head, intestine and total by-products of Vanraja were significantly (P<0.05) higher than other indigenous breeds. Spleen weight was significantly (P<0.05) different among indigenous breeds. Values for head, skin and feathers, trimmings and total by-products from Cobb-400, were significantly (P<0.05) different from all indigenous breeds. In females, on live weight basis blood and intestine weight was significantly (P<0.05) different among the breeds while percent weight of head was comparable among different breeds. The weight of skin and feathers, spleen of Kadaknath breed and total by-products weight of Vanraja were significantly (P<0.05) higher than all other indigenous breeds. On pooled sex group, blood, intestine and total by-products of Vanraja and feet, skin, feathers, trimmings of Kadaknath were significantly (P<0.05) higher than other indigenous breeds. However, no significant differences were observed among the breeds in head and giblet weights. On comparison of Cobb-400 with indigenous breeds, head, feet and total by-products weight were significantly (P<0.05) lower and trimmings was significantly (P<0.05) higher than all indigenous breeds in pooled sex group. Overall total by-products yield was observed minimum in Cobb-400 and maximum in Vanraja breed of chicken in all sex groups.
