Consumption pattern of chicken meat and meat products in rural areas of coastal Andhra Pradesh districts

The consumption pattern of chicken and their products was studied in coastal districts of A.P on a sample of 180 households. The result revealed a significant (P<0.05) positive correlation between the total meat consumption, education and income. The family size was significantly (P<0.05) negatively correlated with consumption. The results of the study concluded that most of the population is consuming chicken when compared to mutton, pork and fish. The consumption is higher at households with an investment of Rs.151–200 per month, preference owing towards festivals and occasions. Most of the people are consuming nearly 1000 g of meat per month.
