The average body weight of male birds of CARI Uttam, CARI Sweta, CARI Uttam x CARI Sweta and CARI Sweta x CARI Uttam Japanese quail were 22.6±0.5 g, 22.2±0.5 g, 23.6±0.5 g and 22.7±0.5 g at 1st week, respectively. The respective body weight at 10th week were 210.52±1.9 g, 194.9±2.6 g, 218.8±2.3 g and 207.5±2.1 g. The corresponding average weight of female birds at 1st week were 22.6 ± 0.4 g, 23.1 ± 0.4 g, 25.1 ± 0.6 g and 23.2 ± 0.6 g and attained 225.9 ±2.0 g, 216.1± 1.5 g, 229.3 ±2.2 g and 225.4 ± 2.6 g, respectively at 10th week. The average body weights of these genotype differed significantly at all ages except 1st week in males and 4th week in females. Highest weight gain was observed during 5th week of age. Growth models namely quadratic, modified exponential, logistic, Gompertz, modified logistic and Bertalanffy were fitted to the data on weekly body weights. Logistic model was found the best, to describe the growth pattern of all these genotypes on the basis of three measures of goodness of fit namely, R2, mean square error and mean absolute error.
