Comparative evaluation of black rock birds in intensive and extensive system of rearing

Black rock chicks (n=75) were reared in extensive system at the farmers house and in intensive and semi intensive system at the krishi vigyan kendra farm. Body weights at weekly interval were recorded up to 6th week of age. Significant differences were observed in the body weight at 2^nd, 4^th, 5^th and 6^th week of age between different rearing systems. At the 4th and 5th week of age the chicks reared at farmers house attended significantly lower body weight than the chicks reared in intensive system. At the 6^th week of age, the body weight in extensive system at the farmers field and in intensive and semi-intensive system at institute farm were 875.50±14.92, 866.60±12.10 and 1132.80±12.28g, respectively. The net profit was higher in extensive and semi-intensive system than intensive system of rearing. The mortality percentage in extensive system was 16 percent whereas, no mortality was recorded in both intensive and semiintensive system of rearing.
