In this study, the role of Musca domestica in the transmission of tapeworms in chicken was investigated. A total of 712 flies from 10 farms were examined, of which 3 flies (0.4%) from 3 different farms were found to be harbour the cystieercoids of Choanotaenia infundibulum. The number of cysticercoids recovered from flies ranged between 4–24 and the cystieercoids remained alive for upto 72 h in the normal saline at 4°C and only 24 h at room temperature.
