The microbiological investigations were conducted on two owls with a history of enteritis. The intestinal contents yielded Shigella dysentariae on the basis of isolation and biochemical characterization. The bacteria were sensitive to ampicillin, gentamicin, tetracycline, penicillin, chloretetracycline, enrotloxacin, ciprotloxacin and contrimazole. However, the isolate accrued fmm one owl, was resistant to nalidixics acid furazolidone, and nitmfurantoin.
