Effect of supplementation of groundnut oil in commercial feed on the production performance of broilers in summer

A total of 200 day old commercial broIler chicks were randomly divided into four groups to find out the effect of supplementation of groundnut oil in commercial feed in graded levels on the production performance of broilers in summer with respect to body weight, feed consumption, feed efficiency, livability and serum cholesterol. The average body weight at 7 weeks of age in different dietary treatment groups viz. TI (control group), T2 (1% groundnut oil), T3 (2% groundnut oil) and T4 (3% groundnut oil) were 1640, 1740, 1790 and 1900g respectively. The average feed efficiency of broilers in groups T1, T2, T3 and T4 were 2.80, 2.60, 2.35 and 2.28 respectively. The statistical analysis of body weight and feed consumption and feed efficiency of broilers revealed highly significant (P<0.01) difference among different treatment groups. Relatively better livability was observed in T4 (98.2%)followed by T2 (96.4%) and T3 (95.4%) groupnut han control group (94.8%). The serum cholesterol levels did not show in significant difference due to goundnut oil supplementation in commercial broiler feed.
