Abstract

Data on 4060 progeny of a synthetic line of broiler produced from 44 sires and 264 dams were used for estimation of genetic parameters of early growth and confirmation traits. The heritability of early body weight and confirmation traits were low but moderate at 6 week of age. All the genetic and phenotypic correlations of the traits were positive and statistically significant. The results indicated that the selection for 6 weeks body weight improves the confirmation traits in broiler.
