A mathematical analysis has been carried out for the flow of agricultural population to non-agricultural sector. A time-dependent model involving first-order autonomous differential equations has been derived to evaluate the rate of change of population in both agricultural and non-agricultural sectors at any time. After confirming the existence and uniqueness of solution of the obtained system, model has been used to determine equilibrium points of the populations under consideration. Stability of these equilibrium points has also been discussed analytically. To check the validity of the model obtained, the model has been applied on the population of India. Per cent variations in all population groups have been shown graphically to show the annual growth in the respective groups. The ratio of agricultural population to non-agricultural population has also been plotted graphically to show the direction of migration of population from one sector to other.
