Abstract

In this article, we have decided to study some relevant issues which were very relevant to the development of the economic situation in Chile about five decades ago, and the strategy used to overcome the many significant inconveniences in a rather polarized society with a huge economic debt.The most relevant periods of time are the military coup back 1973, then between 1973–1976, 1977–1978 and later on.We analyze the role played by the World Bank so as to stabilize the economy and keep a manageable debt. The impact of those reforms isconsidered in nowadays economy of the country.
