First Record of Myrmeleon Tenuipennis Rambur (Neuroptera: Myrmeleontidae) from Eastern India

The present study reports the first record of Myrmeleon tenuipennis Rambur from Odisha, Eastern India. The larval specimens were collected from Berhampur University Campus and reared to adult stage. Morphological descriptions of third instar larvae and adults are provided herewith, highlighting unique features such as the larvae’s pale-yellow color with distinct dorsal and ventral markings. The adults were identified by the presence of yellow-brown thoracic stripes and the venation pattern of hyaline wings. This documentation adds to the taxonomic knowledge of Myrmeleon by offering detailed larval descriptions and distinguishing characteristics, which are crucial for understanding the systematics and phylogeny of Myrmeleontidae.
