A lifetable study of okra shoot and fruit borer (Earias vittella) was conducted in the laboratory and field during the kharif, 2023-24, at Bihar Agricultural University, India. E. vittella had a mortality rate of 22.94% due to hatching failure, in laboratory conditions, and 24.55% in field conditions due to hatchingfailure of eggs. The early instar larvae had a mortality of 35.88%, and 21.43% in the late instar due to physiological disorders in the laboratory conditions, whereas the early instar larvae and late instar larvae in the field conditions showed a mortality %age of 34.24% due to physiological disorders and 20.10% due to unknown factors, respectively. The pupae had a mortality of 16.67% in the laboratory and 18.06% in the field conditions. No mortality is recorded in adult stage in any conditions under study.
