The biodiversity survey of stingless bees in Lore Lindu National Park, resulted in a first record, Heterotrigona itama (Cockerell, 1918) from Sulawesi Island, Indonesia. This species was known from the Java, Borneo, and Sumatra, note that the distribution does not extend east of Wallace line. Now this record in Sulawesi shows the range expansion of this stingless bee among Asian countries.
