Abstract

This field experiment was carried out on Bt cotton in various blocks of district Bathinda, and the population dynamics of Thrips tabaci Lindeman in terms of seasonal abundance and in relation to weather factors were analysed. The results showed that thrips incidence started in 24th and 23rd standard meteorological weeks (SMW), and reached peak (9.42 and 9.83 thrips/ leaf) at 31st SMW in 2017 and 2018, respectively. The incidence (number/ leaf) varied from 0.00 to 18.36 and 0.00 to 18.33, respectively during 2017 and 2018, with the mean incidence being more in 2017 (2.45/ leaf) compared to 2018 (1.66/ leaf).
