The plyboard blocks of variable sizes i.e. large (7.5×2.5×1.8cm), medium (5.0×2.5×1.8cm), small (2.5×2.5×1.8 cm) and extra small (1.25×2.5×1.8 cm) and impregnated with a mixture of ethanol, cue lure [4-(4-acetoxyphenyl)-2-butanone] and malathion (6: 4: 1 v/v) for 48h were evaluated for efficacy in mass trapping fruit flies in cucumber. The large blocks trapped significantly highest number (61.3 males/fortnight), followed by medium, small and extra small sized blocks (35.4, 33.7 and 27.5 males/fortnight, respectively). Fruit fly catches increased with increased length of the blocks. Bactrocera cucurbitae (Coquillett), B. tau (Walker) and B. scutellaris (Bezzi) were observed in the trap catches, with the latter being the dominating one, followed by B. tau and B. cucurbitae.
