Abstract

Experiment was conducted in tomato nursery to evaluate the efficacy of seed treatments with botanical oils along with recommended insecticide against jassid and whitefly. The seed treatment with karanj oil at its lower dose @10 ml/kg seed appeared to be the most effective against jassids at 25 and 30 days after emergence followed by that of neem oil @ 20 and 10 ml/kg seed. Seed treatment with eucalyptus oil @ 20 ml/kg seed and mahua oil @ 10 ml/kg seed did not show any desirable effect against jassid. As regards whiteflies, seed treatment with neem oil @ 20 ml and 10 ml/kg seed was found to be effective. The treatment with spray application of botanicals and recommended insecticide was also found effective against whiteflies.
