Abstract

The importance and impact of insect pollinators on pigeonpea productivity has been studied. Fourteen major insect pollinators/visitors species were recorded during blooming stage, out of which 13 belong to the Hymenoptera. The productivity parameters viz., number of seed set/pod (3.53± 0.23), pod set (26.67± 1.43%) and productivity (1166.51± 6.26 kg/h) recorded from open pollination were observed to be significantly higher than pollinator exclusion.
