Abstract

The diversity of aquatic adephagan beetles in a temporary and permanent freshwater pond at Chennai was studied and these revealed that Clypeodytes pederzanii, Cybister prolixus, Cybister tripunctatus, Hydrovatus confertus, Laccophilus parvulus, Laccophilus sharpi, Canthydrus luctuosus and Canthydrus morsbachi could be considered as well represented and contributing substantially throughout the year. Other beetles are moderately represented and show fluctuation in their species composition.
