Bioefficacy of plant products against painted bug, Bagrada cruciferarum Kirk. (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae)

Abstract

Laboratory experiments were conducted to test the seed kernels of Azadirachta indica A. Juss, seeds of Jatropha curcus Linn, leaf extracts of Annona squamosa Linn., aerial parts of Adhatoda vasica Nees, Cassia torn Linn., Vitex negundo Linn., Withania somnifera Dun., Acorus calamus Linn., unripe fruits of Lantana camara Linn, and roots of Saussurea lappa Clarke, against nymphs and adults of painted bug, Bagrada cruciferum Kirk, at concentrations of 0. 5, 1. 0 and 2. 0%. Extracts of A. indica and Vitex negundo irrespective of concentrations were more effective, causing 80. 87 and 74. 99% mortality of nymphs and adults of B. cruciferarum whereas Saussurea lappa extracts showed less effectiveness.
