A study was carried out to access seed infestation by pod fly (Melanagromyza obtusa) on pigeonpea in relation to abiotic factors viz. temperature, humidity, wind, rainfall and sunshine during 2005–06, 2006–07 and 2007–08. The results revealed maximum infestation in February reaching an average of 52.41%, 54.52% and 53.69%. The average infestation was 39.95% and correlation studies were not able to establish any relationship between the infestation and the abiotic factors.
