Comparative study on the diversity of thrips in the oak growing monoculture habitat and natural forests of Nagaland revealed the occurrence of 55 species belonging to 40 genera. Among them 53 species were known to occur in the natural habitat whereas only 31 species were observed in the monoculture oak habitat. Density of thrips was more in monoculture areas than the natural forest. The alpha (a) and beta (p) diversity showed variations to some extent in terms of species diversity and density.
