Abstract

Studies on the efficacy of certain insecticides and botanicals against the mulberry thrips Pseudodendrothrips mori Niwa revealed that the dimethoate (0.05%) was more effective followed by metasystox (0.05%). In the plots treated with dichlorvos (0.10%) and phosalone (0.10%), population was quickly restored after three days. Among botanicals, neem oil (3%) exhibited higher efficacy compared to pungam oil (3%). The synergistic effect of dimethoate (0.05%) along with neem oil (3%) was found effective in reduction of thrips population over a prolonged period.
