Abstract

The haemocytes of the two hemipterans Lacotrephes ruber and Sphaerodema rusticum were studied. Routine haemolymph smear was prepared and stained with Giemsa and observed under research microscope. Five types of haemocytes were found in Lacotrephes ruber and six types in Sphaerodema rustium viz., prohaemocytes, plasmatocytes, granular haemocytes, adipohaemocytes and oenocytoids were common in both insect species and podocytes present only in the Sphaerodema rusticum.
