Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a global level health issue affecting both animals and humans. The over and under prescription of antibiotics for treatment, and exorbitant use as growth promoter in livestock has led to development of AMR. The hygienic conditions of the farm have a positive effect on lowering the AMR. Maintaining hygienic living conditions, culling the infected animals, keeping the farm and surroundings clean, shifting from conventional to organic practices, maintaining an appropriate herd size, practicing proper biosecurity tend to reduce the animal developing AMR. It is only when the farmers, veterinarians and policy makers join hands together, the AMR can be reduced.
