Diarrhoea in piglets is one of the most common problems that affect pig breeding. Diagnosis is important to differentiate between the causes of diarrhoea and to avoid unnecessary use of antibiotic. As there is increased in development of resistant bacteria, public health concern also increased. To manage the piglet diarrhoea effectively, reduce the production cost, minimise the antibiotic use and about the public health concern, alternative approaches have shown beneficial effect on pig production. The alternative approaches include probiotics, prebiotics, enzymes, phytobiotics, immunomodulators, pH balancers and others. Having multiple approaches one can achieve better management and reduce the piglet diarrhoea. It is also useful to determine better weaning age and to reduce stress at weaning. Research for cost effective immunomodulators as feed additive giving focus on medicinal plants/natural resources will be beneficial for animal production.
