Abstract

The full length virulent glycoprotein E gene of Duck Plague Virus(DPV) field isolates of Tamil Nadu and Ranipet vaccine strain were amplified, sequenced and analyzed. The nucleotide and phylogenetic analysis were done to understand the genetic relationship of DPV Tamil Nadu isolates and Ranipet vaccine strain of plague virus with other DPV strains prevalent in the world. The local field isolates and vaccine strain showed 98% and 96% nucleotide homology with other DPV strains available in the GenBank. The phylogenetic analysis revealed that both field isolates and vaccine  were close to China and Germany strains. The restriction profile studies of DPVTamil Nadu field and Ranipet vaccine strains of DPV were also attempted for differentiation.
