The eeffect of dietary supplement coriander seed on fatty acid composition of liver in japonese quail

Abstract

Experiments were conducted to evaluated the effect of dieatary supplemented coriender seed on fatty acid composition of liver in quails. Four hundered ninety, 3 day-old Japanase quails were randomly divided into five trial groups of 98 birds (49 males and 49 females) in each group according to diets, In control group (Group V), the birds were fed with a basal diet (24% crude proteins and 2900 Kcal metabolisable energy/kg. Four different levels of coriander seeds 0.5% (Group I), 1% (Group II), 2%(Group III) and 4% (Group IV) were added to the basal diets. Fatty acid profiles for liver were altered by adding coriander seeds in diets. Supplementation of coriander seeds to quails diets resulted in a significant (P< 0.01) higher in liver total polyunsaturated fatty acids composition (PUFA). The highest dosage of coriander seed (4% added to the ration) has systematically induced the greatest effects on total polyunsasaturated fatty acids composition. Total PUFA was higher with coriander seeds group 4%, 2% coriander seed according to %0.5, %1 and control groups (P< 0.01). Consequently, dietary supplementation by coriander seed would significant by change the liver lipids of quails by lowering SFA proportions and by enhancing contents of MUFA (monounsaturated fatty acids) and PUFA(polyunsaturated fatty acids), particularly of n3 PUFA.
