Abstract

A comparative histomorphometrical study between Aseel (Fighting cock) and Kalahandi (Nonfighting cock) was carried out to ascertain anatomical superiority of flight muscles and tendons of Aseel cocks over Kalahandi cock. Qualitatively higher amount of connective tissue and collagen fiber content was found in almost all wing muscles and tendons in case of Aseel than that of Kalahandi cocks. Quantitatively the diameter of the fascicles was larger in case of Aseel cocks than Kalahandi cocks. However; the trend for the number of fascicles per unit area was just reversed. These characteristics might attribute to the fighting ability of Aseel cocks.
