A total of 220 quarter milk samples from 55 dromedarius camels were collected and screened by direct and indirect tests viz., Modified California Mastitis Test (MCMT), Modified Whiteside Test (MWST), Somatic Cell Count (SCC), pH estimation of the milk and Cultural examination. Comparative per cent accuracy of direct and indirect tests was worked out taking MCMT or SCC or Cultural examination individually or in combination of SCC and Cultural examination. When MCMT was taken as a standard test, pH estimation (90.45%) and MWST (90.00%) were equally efficient tests which was followed by SCC (89.10%) and Cultural examination (85.91%) for detection of SCM. When SCC was taken as a standard test, Cultural examination (94.55%) proved to be the most accurate test which was followed by MCMT (89.10%), pH estimation (83.18%) and MWST (81.82%), whereas, MCMT (85.45%) was proved to be the most accurate tests followed by pH estimation (81.36%) and MWST (80.00%) when SCC and Cultural examination together taken as a standard.
