Data were collected from 80 tribal pig rearers (40 from remote villages and 40 from nearby villages) of Jharkhand to ascertain their knowledge level about scientific pig rearing practices. It revealed that majority of the respondents in nearby villages of towns had medium (60%) and high (40%) level of knowledge, whereas in remote village majority of the respondents (75%) had low level of knowledge. The zero order correlation coefficient revealed that knowledge level was positively and significantly correlated with extension contact, annual income (P < 0.01), size of family, land holding and socio-economic status (P < 0.05) in nearby villages and with education and livestock holding (P < 0.05), land holding, socio-economic status and annual income (P < 0.01) in remote villages.
