Factors affecting weaning and six month body weight in crossbred sheep

Data on 751 lambs pertaining to synthetic population developed by inter se mating of Corriedale and Russian Merino rams with Nali ewes was studied. The means of weaning and six month weight were 10.36±0.21 and 13.41±0.27 kg, respectively. The weaning and six-month body weight were significantly affected by year, sex, age group of dam and dam's weight at lambing. The effect of season was found non-significant on weaning and six month body weight. The lamb born from dam's in the age group of 49 to 60 months were heavier at weaning and six month of age than the lambs born to dams in age group of less than 48 months and above 60 months of age.
