Abstract

Distribution of artificial insemination (A.I.), pregnancy, abortion and parturition were recorded in different seasons to study their impact on reproduction and suggest remedial measures to improve the reproductive efficiency. Average number (per annum.) of different reproductive events in winter, summer and rainy season were 70.58±3.97, 87.33±6.16 and 71.67±5.75 (A.I.), 71.08±4.09, 88.58±6.12 and 71.58±5.54 pregnancy detected, 2.83±0.91, 2.42±1.17 and 1.50±0.96 abortions and 70.17±9.24, 66.42±6.22 and 87.58±8.65 calving respectively. Number of inseminations performed and animals found pregnant were less in rainy and winter seasons in comparison to summer season. Highest abortions were recorded in the winter with the highest parturitions in the rainy season. The results indicated that the animals must be provided better husbandry practices suited to different season to augment reproductive efficiency.
