Economics of layers production in Marathwada region of Maharashtra state

Abstract

The status of poultry farming in Marathwada region was studied by survey method in the year 1999. During the study, the economic condition of poultry farming was found to be very poor. The small size poultry farms were observed as running in losses, but the large size poultry farms showed somewhat satisfactory performance. The net receipt of small size poultry farms was Rs. 2425.04, medium farms Rs. 3918.35 and of large farms Rs. 8321.13; respectively. The cost-benefit ratio for small, medium and large size poultry farm was found to be 0.94, 1.09 and 1.22, respectively.
