Abstract

The data on 205 samples of Marathwadi buffaloes milk and 40 of other improved breeds (10 for each i.e. Jaffarabadi, Surti, Murrah and Nagpuri) were considered for study. These comprised mainly from Parbhani district of Marathwada region and were evaluated for refractive index, electrical conductivity and viscosity. The mean values for refractive index, viscosity and electrical conductivity were 1.3441, 2.265 cps; 3.498 mscm−1, respectively for Marathwadi buffalo. The values were comparable with Jaffarabadi, Surti, Murrah and Nagpuri buffalo milk samples. The differences in the parameters of Nagpuri buffalo milk were minimum.
