Abstract

A study was conducted using 305 kidding records of Marwari goats to assess the influence of various factors on multiple birth, litter size, abnormal kidding and sex ratio. In this flock of Marwari goats, the litter size was 1.15 with 15.5% twins, 3.9% kids born were abnormal (abortions, still births and premature births) and the sex ratio was 54.7% among normal kids. The rate of abnormal kidding was higher among single births than twins. Twining percentage was significantly (P<0.01) higher (29.3%) in least kidding season than in most kidding season (10.4%). Male births (sex ratio) and abnormal kiddings were not affected by any effect.
