The investigation was conducted among randomly selected 4 tribal villages of Binpur block of Medinipur district of West Bengal. From each village all heads of Santal households (102) formed the sample of the study. The data were collected through personal interview schedule and observational techniques. The findings of the study indicated that the morbidity rates due to foot and mouth disease were highest but case fatality was very low. The results indicated that the major cause of mortality was diarrhoea. The age-wise morbidity and mortality rates of cattle indicated that the highest mortality was recorded in calves followed by adults and young stock.
