Optimizing energy in wireless sensor network using opportunistic routing

Now a day's opportunistic routing is widely used in wireless sensor network as compared to traditional routing, due to various reasons. First, it improves the throughput of a network and second, it increases transmission reliability. For achieving this, network exploits the broadcast nature of the wireless medium. In this paper we have merged the concept of ENS OR [1] with sleep wake scheduling and named as Energy saving with sleep/wake Opportunistic Routing ENSSW OR to maximize the lifetime of a network by keeping some nodes to sleep state. Simulation result shows that the proposed algorithm can improve the network performance as compared to existing ENS_OR protocol.
