Abstract

Functionally Graded Materials are those in which the volume fraction of the two or more constituent materials is varied continuously as a function of position along certain dimension(s) of the structure. This paper presents a review for modelling of functionally graded materials properties with an emphasis on the recent work published. Different properties have been investigated for modelling the functionally graded materials based on different property distribution laws including exponential and power gradation laws. The authors have also discussed the utilization of these for the problems involving complexity in comparison to the simple homogeneous materials.
