The propagation of Love waves in a layered structure consisting of two layers one superimposed on another has been discussed. For understanding the nature of Love waves, we find the total phase change over a complete ray length of incident Love waves in the upper layer. The mathematical modeling established the fact that the Love waves are the self-reinforcing constructively interfering waves in the layer overlying the half space.
